The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State, on Wednesday, during a strategic meeting held at the party secretariat in Issele-Uku, played host to the Senator representing Delta North, Senator Ned Nwoko. The engagement, convened to foster deeper grassroots synergy and reposition the party for stronger internal cohesion, saw party executives, elders, and stakeholders affirming their unalloyed support for the Senator.

In his remarks, Senator Ned Nwoko appreciated the leadership of the party in Aniocha North for their resilience and loyalty over the years. He assured them of his commitment to the growth of the party across the district, stressing that the days of political sabotage and internal betrayal were over.

He said; “I appreciate your sacrifices in building and sustaining this party through thick and thin…Whatever I tolerated in the past, from where I’m coming, that gave room for disrespect and sabotage will no longer be allowed. The APC is one family. But for the record, if there’s ever any talk of factions, I am with Mr. President,”.

Michael Osionye Chinye, a former APC State Publicity Secretary from Ward 7, moved a motion for a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Delta State Governor and Senator Ned Nwoko. The motion was seconded by Anslem Odiakaose, a former councillor, and was unanimously adopted.

In a passionate address, Dr. Anthonia Ashiedu, a former Delta State Commissioner for Micro Credit and respected political leader in the area, lauded the Senator’s consistency and uncommon political value.

“We have a duty to support our Senator, and we have a duty to support Anioma. Wherever you find yourself, whether in church, at the market, or in village meetings, talk about Anioma and why we need our own state. We are too unique to be diminished, no matter where we are.

“Let’s put aside the fear being pushed around that zoning us to the South-East automatically makes us Igbo. We’ve coexisted peacefully with various cultures and tribes here in Delta and have still maintained our uniqueness. So when did we begin to struggle with this inferiority complex?

“Senator Ned is more than just a senator; he is a blessing to Aniocha North and the entire Anioma. He is our first senator, and thankfully, the type we can proudly brag about. We must not take him for granted or allow this moment to slip through our fingers.

“Show me one leader from this locality who has the kind of access to the President that Senator Ned has, there’s none! We must not toy with what we have. Let’s protect him, let’s shield him from harm. Now that he’s strong and ready to do the work, we must stand firmly behind him”, she said.

Dr. Ashiedu called on all party members to promote the gospel of Anioma State at every available forum, emphasizing its importance to the identity and development of the Anioma people.

The meeting was presided over by Sir Matthew Chinye, APC Chairman of Aniocha North, who reaffirmed the LGA’s loyalty to the party and the Senator’s political leadership.
