The Chairman of the Delta North Welders and Blacksmiths Association, Comrade Festus Ogugua has reaffirmed the association’s commitment to the More Agenda, calling on the state government and other stakeholders for collaboration.
Ogugua emphasized that such partnerships would help strengthen the association through youth training and empowerment, aiming to curb unemployment, criminal activities, and other social vices in the society.
He made these remarks over the weekend during a ceremony celebrating one year of seamless leadership and unity across the 9 local government areas in Delta North. The event, held at Maduemezia Hall, was attended by past leaders, grand patrons, top officials, and members of the association.
Speaking to Aniomaonline correspondent, Ogugua reflected on the support and guidance he received from his predecessor. "I recall my inauguration ceremony last year and the promises I made. I’m happy to see them come to fulfillment," he stated.
Highlighting his administration’s achievements over the past year, he listed: Uniting members of the association, courtesy visit to Senator Ned Nwoko, registration and official approval of the union’s name at the state level, increase in revenue generation and hosting of elderly union members, among other successes
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Delta State Welders and Blacksmiths Association, Ogbueshi Emeka Isiche, commended Ogugua's leadership.
"As the chairman overseeing the 25 local government areas, I can proudly say that the Delta North chairman has made us proud," Isiche said.
"May you never lack the wisdom to continue running the affairs of this association. To our patrons, grand patrons, and past leaders, we deeply appreciate your constant support in advancing the association. God bless you all."
Former Vice Chairman of Delta North, Mr. Lucky Agbakulu, appealed to the Delta State government to assist the association by securing a permanent site, lamenting that task force and other government agencies often disrupt their businesses.
In his closing remarks, Chief Godwin Ochonogor urged all members to remain grateful to God, noting that the current leadership is a strong assurance of a secured future for Delta North.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates of recognition to past leaders, patrons, grand patrons, and other supporters of the association.
