Two Unidel Students have won Silver medals at the just concluded Niger Delta Sports Festival which took place in Uyo, Akwa lbom.
The Director of Sports, UNIDEL, Mr. Micheal Mbibi who presented the athletes, Veronica Onyewunu and her sister, Margaret Onyewunu to Management, said the Silver Medals were won in the Volleyball competition.
He disclosed that four UNIDEL students participated in the Festival and commended the management for their support and encouragement to sports growth and development.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stella Chiemeke who was overwhelmed with the success story , congratulated the students for giving visibility to the University in the area of Sports adding that the University community was proud of them.
She gave kudos to the Director of Sports for his passion for sports development and unwavering commitment which has given the institution National visibility in the sports.
She charged the Director to sustain the momentum and aim for more laurels during the forthcoming NUGA games.
The contingent was warmly received by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Stella Chiemeke, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Patricia Mbah, the Bursar, Mr. Sunny Ikeogwu, the Librarian, Dr. Mrs. Vera Okonoko, some SUG officials, sports officials as well as some UNIDEL lecturers.
The high point of the exercise was a pledge of four hundred thousand naira by the University Management to be given to the two medalists, the Acting Director of Sports and others who participated in the festival.
